Luna's House Open House!

Yes, it was raining. Yes, there was a hurricane. Would Luna's House quit? No, definitely not!

They went through with the open house and had a wonderful turn out, despite the weather. Ending slightly earlier then planned (5:00 instead of 7:00), they guided lots of people through the new facility, gave out lots of pieces of cake, and sold lots of raffle tickets!

Hopefully this is the step in the right direction to getting word out to the community that Luna's House is here to stay and are changing the way people view rescues.

The Luna's House facility is not quite open for operation yet, but the do expect to be operational mid to late September!!!!

Ozzie's new cage & preparing for a new hurricane

Due to a change in location, Oddie gets a a new cage! Its slightly smaller then his previous one, but his a rather old pig, so he doesn't use all of it. Still, new cage for Ozzie!

However as the hurricane approaches, the guinea pigs need to strap down and prepare for a wild ride!

I noticed last Saturday that Ozzie, my blind guinea pig, had suddenly ruptured his right eye! It was quite red and bulging. After immediately taking him to the emergency animal hospital where they confirmed our suspicion that it was a ruptured eye, they gave us ointment and eye drops and said to take him to his regular vet in 3-5 days, but that he would likely have to have his eye removed.

And yesterday, after taking him to his regular vet at Chadwell Animal Hospital, the good news came in! The vet says he can keep his eye!

So much for changing his name to Bad Eye Moody...

But I'm glad Ozzie is okay.

The ARE Club

I am currently working through a homeschool co-op on running a Animal Rescue and Education Club. I believe at the last count we were nearing twenty participates signed up so far! Club members will learn a lot about companion animals, Luna's House, and some about being a vet! They will start to be trained to work at Luna's House! They will also help make dog and cat toys, cat trees, a raffle basket or two, ornaments for a Festival of Lights tree, and more! We will be going on "field-trips" to a vet's office and to LH's new facility! They will also have the opportunity to run an event or fundraiser to support Luna's House and potentially sponsor an animal enclosure at Luna's House new facility! Can't wait tell it starts, September 16th here we come!

Luna's House Update

So much exciting things going on at Luna's House!

Cat Condos are going in; complete with little doors, walls, siding, and roofs! Shingles too! FANCY for the kitties...

Dog Runs are in, and amazing!

A new mural is going up on the front wall and everything is starting to look great... as it should!

Everybody's in a bit of a rush as their Open House approaches- its August 27th, and the facility! The public is invited and welcome to come!!!

Currently Luna's House should be operational sometime in mid-September. There will be boarding there!
