This blog is about a service project called Produce For Piggies; it also revolves around my mischievous little masters, the guinea pigs of the house!

Tornado and the piggies cont. =D
Well, surprise surprise, the Tornado didn't come. We spent a good ten-twenty minutes around the table checking the weather radar and watching the thunderstorm for funnel clouds, but all we got was a down pour and lighting. And what about the guinea pigs? Not worried in the slightest!

Tornado and the piggies?
Well, we're looking out the window right now, expecting the tornado siren to go off any minute. A bit paranoid? Maybe, but still, the county's in a tornado warning.
After going through what do when there's a tornado... I'm going to go get my pigs. Gotta keep them safe too, no matter what!

The Harvest Continues!
Well, its still harvest time in my little lettuce garden. I harvested a table full of lettuce!
This is a bit more lettuce then my little piggies can handle, so at the volunteer work meet over at the Luna's House facility today I gave most of it away to Lisa, co-founder of Luna's House, and her to other volunteers with sweet little piggies (and bunnies)!
I was also videoing- not participating in, due to the fact they were spraying the walls with paint- the Luna's House volunteers today. Next week we're going to be working outside again!
If you want to come out to the yardsale/work day, the location of the new Animal Care and Education Center (a rehabilitated abandoned car dealership) is 2801 Pulaski Highway, Edgewood, MD, USA.

Bath Time!
Gave piggies a bath today, grabbed some classified pictures well I was at it! =P
Marconi is wet! |
Now its Ozzie's turn! |
Two weapons are shown in this picture- my fingernail and a irresistible power of my cute guinea pig! |
Now they look like poor drowned rats! |
Ahh... And in the end, everything's okay, because the ever hungry pigs get treats! |
Harvest Lettuce!
We've started to get our garden lettuce in! Now we have bags full of it! Lucky piggies!
Unfortunately for my flower garden, a wild bunny got to the first seedlings! Ah well... Take some, you give some =)

Saltlick / Chew toys - yum!
My piggy has been having a little bit of a problem with chewing his cage bars... especially in the middle of the night! And me, who can sleep through parades, bombs, raging thunderstorms, my alarm clocks, trains and the like, is always awake when the piggy starts chewing/squeaking.
Sooooo today, well cleaning his cage, I went and found a saltlick/chew toy thing I had laying around for them. Mr. Piggy (Marconi) seemed to take to it really well- hopefully, its a success!

Work at the Luna's House facility continues!
Well, I just got back from working at the new Luna's House facility. As you may or may not know, the contractors are doing a lot of work on the 2 million + dollar "green" building, but in order to save money and what not, Luna's House volunteers are always getting to help where they can. So, that's what some of us where out doing today! We got nice weather, until the end, when in started raining! But still, I was able to help with trash pick up and a lot of removing small trees and bushes and the overgrowth on the side of the building. Its amazing how much a little trimming can change a building's appearance!
Right now the building's not scheduled to open until sometime between August 20-27, and its coming along slowly but surely, but we still have a long ways to go!
I'll be out volunteering and videoing next week when volunteers will be painting, and the weekend after that when we'll be outside again.
UPCOMING: I'll be meeting with Lisa and Nevin Randle, co-founders of Luna's House, and two other volunteers interested in working on getting kids involved in the rescue sometime in the next couple weeks! My Luna's House Youth Volunteer Group will happen! If you are interested in joining or know someone who is, please contact me at produceforpiggies@gmail.com
Good day, and have a squeaking awesome week! Until next time,
